Bingham Falls

Cold, clear water tucked into the woods below Mount Mansfield.

A classic Stowe-area plunge pool and short gorge walk, popular in summer for a cold swim and an easy forest approach.

Stowe · Lamoille County

Waterfall pouring into a green pool between steep, mossy rock walls at Bingham Falls, Vermont.

First Time Here

The walk in is short but can be rooty and uneven—sturdy shoes beat flip-flops. Expect a small parking pull-off and a well-worn path that gets busy on warm weekends.

The pool below the falls is deep in places and the rocks can be slick. Water levels change with rain and snowmelt, which also changes how dramatic the falls look.

Should You Go

Good for

  • A half-day outing paired with other Stowe-area stops
  • Dippers who are comfortable with cold mountain water
  • Photographers on quieter weekdays

Skip if

  • You need lifeguards, ropes, or a controlled swimming area
  • Mobility is limited—the approach includes uneven terrain and short slopes

Site Note

Access rules, parking, and trail conditions change. Verify current guidance from land managers before you go, pack out what you pack in, and be considerate of neighbors and other visitors.
